~ Oh, Cabaret ~

Though not very much in the mood to blog, coz of morning unhappiness, I shall still do justice to the musical I attended last Friday. - Cabaret, by Toyfactory -

Cabaret was set in the 1930's Berlin (Pre-WWII) at the infamous nightclub, the Kit Kat Klub. There was love stories between a writer and KKK's toast of the mayfair, the long-time spinster landord n the elderly exotic fruit seller. It was funny, raunchy and VV entertaining. Vv wild too. Emma Yong (KKK gal) was main character, vv good singing....totally enjoyed all her renditions. Fei Xiang was the emcee of the musical, who appears during scene change, and of coz, the vv beginning of the musical where he introduced the 'gals' and smacked their bottoms. Karen Tan was Fraulein Schneider, the long time spinster who initially rejected her love due to fears of Nazi rules against Jews (exotic fruit seller is german jew).

All in all, I enjoyed myself, the serious moment were punctuated with occasional jokes to lighten the atmosphere and the raunchy moments, hmm... really raunchy...... Haha

Feixiang was, i guess, the main crowd-puller as local production has nv seen such good responses. To be honest, he's singing was onli...good...not fantastic. I was definately more impressed with Emma Yong and Karen Tan.

It was also my first time to step into Esplanade Theatre and OMG... It was BEAU-TI-FUL!!! Even if u bought the cheapest tix, i guarantee u'll still see the stage w/o obstruction. It is so beautifully carved, juz like the inside on a fruit...whahaha.....the durian.

rollercoaster

i'm a complete idiot when it comes to html stuff...this skin totally dun match the colour of the fonts (default).... and i knows nuts abt changing the dumb colour.

The virus is spreading.....Be afraid, be VV afraid...... the bad-mood & pissed-off virus has spread through airborne / verbal contamination from my boss to me..... It has been encountered by my admin, who is trying hard to counter it.

It's not a good day, so i'm looking forward to my evening..... Cabaret, FX, here i come!!!

Can't wait to hear the fantastic voices of Fei Xiang and Emma Yong. Karen Tan is in the musical too. I hope it's gonna be a good one. My first time in Esplanade Theatre! YEAH! =)

family chalet

Current status: Running to toilet frequently to clear my bowels

Cause: Muz be those BBQ... ... ...

Had a family chalet last weekend. Long long time since my aunt booked a chalet, all due to increasing costs of Aloha chalets in Loyang. Settled in Aloha Changi Fairypoint Chalet 1 on Sat. Accompanied my dad to Coral Bistro to pick up the marinated BBQ stuff and headed to check in with my grandparents. According to my aunt, my grandfather (aka Yeye) was vv excited and have invited everyone he knew, to come to the chalet.

Fairypoint 1 & 7 are like the biggest chalets in Aloha Changi. It is so big that it has its own porch, living room, kitchen, 7 toilets and 5 rooms. Incredible with a 2 storey bldg and a SHED!!! Yes, u read rite, a shed. Who has a house that comes with a shed these days. I surely wouldn't noe, coz i'm one of those who benefitted from late Mr Lim Kim San's housing plan. *Salute*

BBQ for sat nite...din eat much though, nv liked to eat too much during BBQs coz there's juz so many pple squeezing at the pit. I hate the smoke and i paiseh to eat wad pple have hard-workingly BBQed. Brought wiebber to the Changi Boardwalk as well, great exercise for him. Practically fainted by the time we brought him home. Hmmm...should have cut his nails since he was so tired out...hehez...

Went back to the chalet on Sunday afternoon, in time for the buffet lunch ordered from Coral Bistro (again!). The food was, well, usual.... There were many many guests, and all of us had to help out in the cleaning of the wares and packing the place.

Had a game of captain's ball abt 4.30pm with my couzzies and uncle n my dad. My side won and tad's because Damien left the pitch to fetch pple coming to the chalet (i think). All the girls were a great sport.... some of my male cousins (esp the young ones) are definately not. The skools obviously are not doing their job these days. Guys juz stick to playing the computer and grow fat. Not all of them, i still have a P6 cousin who attends biathalon. I think all these are their parents influence. Those who usually dun like to play, well, their parents (my uncles) are vv similar in habit. KTV might juz be their fave sport.

My stomach's been tumbling ard since last nite, i hope it will get well soon. Pls dun and get someone to call me to let me get out of this office. *pray*

I think Wiebber is a AP (read: Attitude Problem) Dog. He wasn't thrilled at all, for me to be home. Pics below shows activity when sun was up.

Been wondering if a friend could be right saying that i have been too superficially strong all this while. Maybe i'm a weak person, juz that i have to act strong. It's taking a toil especially when pple whom i thot should care, no longer does at much. I'm, afterall, a sucker for attention. Pretty disappointed and the PJ (pu-jua) eyes ain't helping.

I already know today is gonna is lousy day at work. Dun ask me y, i juz noe. Feel like being unreasonable today, juz feel like it.

Juz for sharing, ants dun like G-cup pple.

close friends = blessing

I have many friends. But I actually am vv lucky to have several close friends. Hi-bye friends are aplenty, therefore, making time to meet with ur true friends is definately rewarding.

Saturday met up with Huiyin n Yongren, gave them a treat at Changing Appetites. Post bdae treat for yongren n advance treat for Huiyin (who will be finally celebrating her 21st in Sept). I dunnoe how we started this wonderful friendship, but it juz happened. Having Huiyin to lunch with is nv a bore, she always interesting n hilarious, Yongren tends to be the listener (a good one), would give praise den serves the ultimate 'suaning' eventually. It's been a long long time since we managed to meet up and this lunch is truly a blessing. Not to forget that i got a treat too, at Andersons. This treat was a belated for my last yr bdae or his first pay. Haha...too long ago, cannot rem liaoz, but I can soon extort 1 more when this 20th cometh.

Sunday was lunch time with my freaking poly clique, kekeke.. It muz have been MONTHS since i last met QM. Her complexion has improved alot and i hope mine will soon too. Her current status is to enjoy slacking before contracts starts. She's still a lover for pizza and we decided to go to Pizza Hut at Centrepoint. The best part abt having vv close friends is that u no longer need to say wad u want, coz they noe. Like Miss Q who generously offered to order drumlets, lots of it, coz she noes i like them. Ham ham having started on his beauty regime, have become more groomed, refined pores and all. Gambate! Ah Shui n JW were with us too but pretty quiet most of the time. Think they juz needed more time for warm-up, coz by MOS burger (drink break), they became their usual chatty self. It's a pity we were still short of 3 pax, XiaoHao, Xy and Dav.

Amazingly, we all miss each other at some point of time (tad is wad i choose to believe) and it is vv difficult to have such a big clique. Maybe we will be able to have a HUGE gathering soon. One of these days, one of us will succeed in organising that BIG one. We are juz like one big family and I hope we will be able to be like these forever.

Bad Moodswings

Is today already 'rear-llie' Friday? Ooo...tad's fast. Can't seem to recall wad i did the past few days to miss out on the bloggins. Actually, i noe, it's becoz i have a sad life. It's either routine or down. Getting 3 National Champs was a roller coaster ride, once u are so 'high' up there, the onli place u can head is ...down...

But wadever, life is a (vicious) cycle. These will change very soon. Maybe things are getting better at this very moment. I do hope so and I'm gonna dance/drink my life away at Dbl O tml. Their drinks are like really cheap although i feel i was paying $12 for Ribena (instead of, VODKA ribena).

I have to change my blogskin. The viewing window of the blog content is too small....and i need the archive. Still an idiot when it come to the html stuff.

** Wiebber, get well soon. Mummy loves u**

happie belated bdae, Wiebber

I'm so ashamed of myself. All day long, i tok abt Wiebber, how much Wiebber loves me n I love Wiebber and how cute he is, etc.... And.... I actually..... forgot his bdae was ytd (9/07)!!! I'm so sorry my dear. I know you will nv read this post but i hope u can forgive ur mummy.

Muz have been the hectic busy sat-sun at St John and being delirious with winning, We din even have dinner with u. I'm so guilty.... but i'm sure as hell ur daddy haben even realise. Mummy will go east coast to get small muffin for u. Maybe a toy too.

See ya tonite! Muacks!

Before i become guilty tml again, Happy Bdae to Vivian! =)

Zone 10 Hai Sing: 3 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Yes....u saw it rite. 3 National CHAMPS!!! Yipee! U guys rox! Thanks to Doreen, Desmond, SNC, Huisian for their determination and effort to train and allowed the comp teams to produce such results! Hi-5 to Hairianto for winning his long-awaited Best Team Leader. Sweet eh? Especially after working so hard for it. Swept the Nursing Adult, Ambulance Adult and Ambulance Cadet catergories. Nursing Cadet is a tough challenge as usual, vv competitive as always, so to our NC team: There's always next yr!!!

This competition was the Annual St John First Aid Competition. FIRST TIME in our corp history to get 3 overall champs. It juz feels SHIOK!!! I screamed till my voice turned hoarse. Although we haben been able to do a clean sweep, I believe this day will come. Doe, Sian, Des, Jeremy, HB, all of them cried when they saw the pride in the comp team. Their hardwork n belief had come true. Yeah, free treat for all soon!!!

So tired now, energy level is at all time low. Wasn't even able to climb out of bed to watch my WC Final. Until now i still dunnoe who won....so dumb...haha....later den check the webby. Stayed up throughout the sat-sunday. Sat afternoon: Went to school to try and help out in the training, den evening when to meet Hao n Ham to go Dbl O. Vv cheap drinks, affordable cover and retro music for my liking. Hehez... Watched First half of the Germany-Portugal match at the club before the music died down for the nite and headed for supper. By the time reached home, it was 5 plus am... Germany has won 3rd place in WC 2006. Good for the GERMS!!! Bathed and left home with HB to go to school for preparations before the comp. Stayed at Guangyang Primary School throughout the day for the comp, WON, took lotsa photos and went to Huisian's place for dinner before heading home to ZZzzz.....Sunday 10pm

GOOD WEEKEND!!! Next on my SJ itinery... ATC'06!

**Wonder if xiao lei got my Puma sneakers...hehez...

Dae Jang Geum Meal

I thot abt it and felt maybe i could start a 'FLOG'.... an online log on food... haha...den maybe i can make restaurants pay me to advertise their 'mum-mum'. Yah yah rite, like as if i'm some famous blogger. juz daydreaming as usual. Hehez...

Ytd Hunny Chew treated his bro n I to Da Chang Jin (Korean: dae jang geum) meal at Crystal Jade Ginseng Chicken n BBQ, a Crsytal Jade branch that specialises in Korean cuisine, at Ngee Ann City. Juz like other Crystal Jades, the atmosphere and furnishing are classy and the prices are mid-priced (read: a little above avg). We had Ginseng Chicken Soup, Grilled Saba and Seafood Pancake. These of coz came with the many side dishes, as per korean dining tradition.

The Ginseng Chicken was superb... vv nourishing, the soup was thick enuf, the chicken was vv tender and the ginseng was aromatic. Hunny Chew, i believe, is addicted to the soup as he was so looking forward to the soup. I swear he had mentally salivated at the sight of the dish being served. Highly recommended - 5 STARS!!!

The seafood pancake was okie, i felt it tasted more like the 'nian gao' coz of the similar base ingredients used. Was pretty starchy, so the portion would be good for 4 person sharing. The grilled saba was BIG... but a little too fishy.

I felt that it was Korean food cooked the chinese way. Maybe becoz the chefs were all from other Crystal Jades, so the method of cooking was vv much chinese/cantonese. Even the side dishes din taste vv korean... coz they made it less spicy/salty.

To be fair, this slight alterations of the original korean taste should have been made to accomodate the taste buds of locals. To make a sudden change and eat authentic korean food could be too much of a change to the tastebuds, risking the food to be rated un-nice. Therefore, it is a good place to bring your parents who wants to taste korean food but fear being not used to the taste.

Next time, i will bring HB and Hunny Chew to the korean restuarant at Chinatown, which is super-authentic. Korean chef, korean lady boss, korean waitresses. Korean chopsticks, spoon and bowl too. Den i will order the ginseng chicken, which i missed the last time, to compare the standards. Makes me drool imagining how good it will be. Hehez...

Congrats, my girl

My vv close female friend has been offered a job by Silkair already. After the umpteen rounds of interviews, robe tryouts, swim test, etc. She's made it! So happy for her. Now it's up to her to decide whether she wants to take up the offer anot, maybe it would be a dilemma as she is enjoying her current job. Anyway, girl, I will support u no matter wad ur decision may be. =)

Saturday nite: Germany vs Portugal. Pick urselves up, Germs. Win again and put a smile on ur countrymen's face! U all can do it! Shall glue myself to the TV. =)

World Cup 2006

Some of the pics i extracted from the WWW that i felt were quite interesting n nice. A pic speaks a thousand words yeah... Hope you enjoy viewing it anyway. Cheers!

Supporters - The motivating force of the players (other than $$)

France - Brazil Match. The winning goal which was executed beautifully.

Above are those who have conquered the match...

...And those who tasted defeat

GriEVinG

Y??? Why are there so many upsets in the World Cup 06??? My Germs... they should have won! Stayed up throughout the night so that i can support them through my telepathic energy, but it was not to be. Italy 2 - 0 Germany. 2 goals in the last 2 mins of extra time. How devastating. If it had been maintained at 0 - 0....den my Germs would have won for penalty.

The players cried, their supporters cried and i nearly cried too. (;_;) So emotional. Maybe that's y pple like to watch soccer, it's as if u are part of the team and their work will depend on ur supportiveness. Although i was vv tired by 5.30AM, i juz couldn't sleep right away. Part of my heart was torn by the defeat Germany had felt. Toss n turned till near 6am.

The moment Hanbin woke me up this morning, I told him Germany lost. He looks shocked n wonders if i'm sleep-talking. I juz replied 'Yeah, so sad' and fell back to sleep.

Credits to the Italians though. They were vv fast on their feet and they look like little mighty man who were smaller in size but stout. Germs looks a little disoriented by their speed and ball possession wasn't gd. They are good lah. Ok lah, win lor. But i muz say they were pretty rough. Many a times, i felt the ref should have given the Italians a yellow card at least. A pic i got from www.channelnewasia.com to illustrate.

Ballack n Podolski was the common target for rough play, throughout the entire match. Poor guy, so handsome though. 1 of the small rewards of watching soccer. Haha....

Wiebber's lastest FAVE movie

Wiebber is always HIP. He does everything according to the latest craze in town, including his sleeping pose. When Wiebber's mummy was obsessed about Da Vinci Code, he slept like the Vitruvian man(dog).

Inverted Vitruvian actually, coz Wiebber feels it might be too vulgar exposing his own (u noe). So DVC has finished its long run at the cinemas, n like the always HIP dog, Wiebber has decided to pose like the 'S'man in RED underwear.

NalGene, good AH

Bought my first Nalgene bottle after continous nagging from my cols to stop drinking mineral water. I guess this is my small little step to prevent 'stone' from forming in my gall bladder in the long run. It's pretty in Pink, but abit too costly.... Onli good thing is it can take HOT water up to 135 deg C. Abit guilty for not getting the blue one for HB coz he oso wants it.... or maybe i should get it and ask him to take it as his bdae prezzie. Haha...me so cheapo. =P

Just wanna add on smt to ytd's post on Mac delivery before i sound unreasonable to my readers. The delivery centre was juz a freaking 7mins or less bike-riding time away from my place.

Mac-Donner

Went to Aloy's place with tina on sunday early morning (3am) to watch the Brazil - France match. Totally disappointed with Brazil, they seem to underestimate France and played w/o the fire they used to possess. Although i supported Brazil, I muz say France played a terrific game and they deserved to win. Vv coordinated attacks and well-defended at the back. Zidane played like he was still in his prime and Henry gave a splendid 'kick-in-e-air' goal. But wadever, coz Germs are gonna be the ULTIMATE winner of this world cup!!! YEAH!!!

TIP OF THE WEEK: Call for your Mac, or wadever, food delivery before start of game so that they can deliver during half-time.

Yeah, back to the title of the blog. Aloy, tina n I decided we could make do with some finger food and with the Mac board right smack in the screen of the match, we gave in to temptation n called for a delivery. We were asked to wait 1 hr.... Ok, reasonable, considering many pple are up n watching n might have been calling too. Alas, the food did not arrive even after the match ended. That's like nearly 2 hrs from the time i called. Furious, i called to cancel the order.

Juz when Aloy was seeing us off at the door, the Mac delivery guy appeared at the lift asking if we ordered. We told him we had cancelled it due to long wait, and he good-naturedly said it's ok and left. Lucky for him to be good-natured. Tina n I waited for him enter lift and went down before we got on our short journey home. (like 1 block away...whaha) There we were bitching in the lift, complaining he muz be watching soccer at Mac and din bother abt our order, blah blah blah... Den we saw him again, at the void deck, struggling to start his vv old bike repeatedly.

Me: 'Wah, so late den his bike still spoil. He will surely reach home vv late'
Tina: 'Huh, it's his bike ah. So poor thing. Den he like bai pao yi tang.'
Me: 'Who ask him watch the match liaoz den send us our order. But he wun need to pay for our food lah. Juz wasted his petrol $$ lor.'
Tina: 'So ke lian. Jie, actually i dun mind get from him lor. I oso feel like eating something.'
Me: 'Ok lor.'

So we U-turned from our lift loby back to void deck near aloy's lift lobby, approach the delivery guy and told him we'll still take the order but he needed to bring it up to our place. He looked pretty relieved and told us it was his last order b4 he heads home. And so we paid him at our door and he thanked us again n apologised for the long wait. Both of us den opened up to already soggy twister fries, nuggets and cold McWings. Obviously, the food has been prepared long ago and had stayed in the bag till he FINISHED watching the match. Too bad for us, we were juz so soft-hearted and kind. Tina and I were complimenting ourselves, saying the guy should be grateful coz we eventually took the order and hoped he would fix his bike soon so that he can go home.

Sunday evening, was going to HB's house when I saw the SAME mac delivery guy fixing his bike at my place's multi-storey carpark. So he's onli like staying in my neighbourhood!!! Gosh, I can't believe how Tina n I could have thot we muz have helped the guy at getting home early. Who noes, he could be juz staying right in the same block as us. o_O He muz have thot these 2 girls were nuts for thinking he would be grateful.

Juz rem, advertisements are fake. REAL Delivery men dun appear in the midst of (WORLD CUP) games to send u ur long-awaited food.

Runny Streak; Losing Nose

My nose is currently an opened tap. 2 tablets of Febs for every 4 hrs did not help 1 bit... cough oso getting more serious. Hope everything will clear by Sunday night. Or else i cannot imagine wad will happen on Monday...

2nd round of Monopoly ytd, i'm the FIRST to lose AGAIN!!! Damnnit... I think i made a right choice at not doing any finance related course. Tinaornana won ytd and she was sitting at the same place as my mum did the last last night. Therefore, our house has declared that it is the 'Cai' (fortune) position n my dad placed the Laughing Buddha aka DPNN (dua pui ne ne) there. It has been there since last night, hasn't budge and is still blocking the TV. Whahah...so silly right, but no harm putting it there if can win 4D tonite. If win, buy more TVs lah. Whahah...

Oh yeah... Ytd went to collect NDP Preview tix my mum n sis won at Far East Square. Walked all the way to Chinatown and decided to eat Korean food. Everybody should go yah, VV nice. FANTABULOUS!!! The shop is called 'Jang Won'. All staff are koreans and there are many expat koreans patronizing. It means the food is really good n similar to standard in korea. Hahaz... There's actually several k.restaurants along the stretch of shophouse but this one was the classiest. They have complimentary drinks (tea) n small appetizers (cannot spell) which is vv typical korean. It's super affordable too. 4 pax we onli spent $40!!! Had Kimchi soup, BBQ saba (vv fresh n big) n Bi Bim Bab... Absolutely filling. Coz I have yet to be given a treat of DJG meal by Hunny Chew, I had to curb the craving by eat anything korean. To anyone who reads this: Let's go eat K.meal again! Hehez!

German WON!!! 4:2 lahz! Wiebber's so happy, his grandfather's land din fail him. Too bad Argentina n supporters, all of u can come support the GERMS now for Semis! Ytd match was super exciting coz I din have scv coverage for the game, my neighbour was out and i din go Mac. So wad did i do? Okie, my sis demanded updatez from her male friends abt the match n they provided us with the live commentary via MSN Messenger of the game's happenings. So exciting, esp when there's no visual and u could onli depend on wadever's typed on ya screen. Thank you aspiring police n violent yuan!

Okie, vv longwinded already. Vv shiok coz I'm bloggin on my new PC n it juz exudes the use-me-i'm-so-fast attitude. Pray, by the time i blog again, that my runny nose n losing streak will end.
