~ Oh, Cabaret ~

Though not very much in the mood to blog, coz of morning unhappiness, I shall still do justice to the musical I attended last Friday. - Cabaret, by Toyfactory -

Cabaret was set in the 1930's Berlin (Pre-WWII) at the infamous nightclub, the Kit Kat Klub. There was love stories between a writer and KKK's toast of the mayfair, the long-time spinster landord n the elderly exotic fruit seller. It was funny, raunchy and VV entertaining. Vv wild too. Emma Yong (KKK gal) was main character, vv good singing....totally enjoyed all her renditions. Fei Xiang was the emcee of the musical, who appears during scene change, and of coz, the vv beginning of the musical where he introduced the 'gals' and smacked their bottoms. Karen Tan was Fraulein Schneider, the long time spinster who initially rejected her love due to fears of Nazi rules against Jews (exotic fruit seller is german jew).

All in all, I enjoyed myself, the serious moment were punctuated with occasional jokes to lighten the atmosphere and the raunchy moments, hmm... really raunchy...... Haha

Feixiang was, i guess, the main crowd-puller as local production has nv seen such good responses. To be honest, he's singing was onli...good...not fantastic. I was definately more impressed with Emma Yong and Karen Tan.

It was also my first time to step into Esplanade Theatre and OMG... It was BEAU-TI-FUL!!! Even if u bought the cheapest tix, i guarantee u'll still see the stage w/o obstruction. It is so beautifully carved, juz like the inside on a fruit...whahaha.....the durian.
